Business & Beer – 2nd Thursday of Every Month

On April 14, the Business & Beer networking group met at production brewery Absolution Brewing Company’s tasting room for our monthly gathering. This may be the first time that we had more people show up than photos taken; it was a nice group of craft beer fans and professionals with Felicia driving in from the Palm Springs area! Absolution was offering a BOGO special to Business & Beer attendees, which made it just that much more fun. Thanks to everyone that came out.

Networking at Business & Beer

Our next Business & Beer will be held Thursday May 12 at Torrance’s newest craft brewery, Scholb Premium Ales. As Scholb did not have their ribbon cutting until the day after last month’s gathering at Absolution, this was the soonest we could fit them in. If you have not had a chance to visit Scholb yet, this is your chance; and I think you will love them. They already have close to 10 beers on tap, so I am sure they will have something you will enjoy; I already have a couple favorites.

Scholb Premium Ales is located at 2964 Columbia Street in Torrance. It is just a few hundred feet west of Absolution Brewing, in the same industrial complex. If you pull into the first driveway east of Maple, just go straight ahead. We hope you will join us. Cheers!

Please join us for Business & Beer a small business networking event which will be held at Scholb Premium Ales on May 12, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Scholb Premium Ales is located at 2964 Columbia St, Torrance, California. Please RSVP by commenting below that you will be there.

Business & Beer returned to The Dudes’ Brewing Company in Torrance for their February gathering and while the group may have been small, it certainly did not prevent business being done while enjoying some of The Dudes’ latest brews.

As it turned out, it was a first time attendance for everyone there except for Tanya and myself; but those that did attend were able to enjoy the company of The Dudes’ Master Brewer, Alex Rabe as he joined us for a while to talk about his vision for The Dudes’ while making a couple business connections at the same time.

The next Business & Beer will be held Thursday, March 10 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the King Harbor Brewing Company tasting room located at their production brewery on 182nd Street in Redondo Beach. They have expanded their beer selection pretty significantly, so if you have not been there lately come see what has changed. Continue reading

Enjoying a flight of HopSaint brews

The Business & Beer networking group welcomed 2016 by paying their first visit to the recently opened HopSaint Brewing Company, the newest brewpub to open in Torrance. We had a pretty large group that seemed to rotate in and out which was probably a good thing since HopSaint is still in their “soft open” mode. While this was a first time visit for most of the attendees, many were previously familiar with the work of Head Brewer, Brian Brewer, from our Business & Beer gathering at The Brewery at Abigaile. The food was something that very few were familiar with and I think it was safe to say it was definitely a hit. Since the South Bay has so many breweries and brewpubs now we only get to visit each about once a year now, so if you missed our January gathering, do yourself a favor and stop by there on your own; don’t wait for the next time Business & Beer meets there.

The February gathering of Business & Beer will be held February 11 at The Dudes’ Brewing Company from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. If you have not been to The Dudes’ recently, you just haven’t been. I attended an event last week for a collaboration release they did with KLOS radio. The Dudes’ has a new Master Brewer and Head Brewer and I have to say that their Bohemian Hopsody may be the best beer that has ever come out of that brewery. They have a new sessionable black IPA that was quite tasty as well. I personally look forward to trying more of the new brews coming out of The Dudes’. As a side note, The Dudes’ will be hosting their Trivia Night on the same day. It begins at 8:00 PM which is when Business & beer ends so feel free to stick around and enjoy the fun while exercising your brain. If we have enough people stick around, perhaps we will have a Business & Beer team. Continue reading
