The August gathering of Business & Beer was held at El Segundo’s newest production brewery, and LA County’s first distillery and brewery, Rob Rubens Distilling & Brewing. While our turnouts in El Segundo are typically lower than those, in say Torrance, we had a very nice sized group with a nice mixture of old and new attendees.
Rob Rubens Distilling & Brewing founder Rob Rubens gave us a tour of the brewery with a lot of emphasis placed on the distillery portion since that is something not many have had an opportunity to learn about. They did not have spirits available at our gathering but they will have some by the day of their grand opening, on September 16.
After the tour everyone settled in for some networking and tastings of the Head Over Heels IPA, Valentine’s Massacre, Gunpowder Cream and anti-Villain Saison. Everyone is a winner at Business & Beer
We had a very nice turnout, with a total of seven of the attendees being present at the first event as well. To mark the occasion, co-founder Tanya prepared homemade calzones which went perfectly with Smog City’s beer; Phil and Debbie brought in a couple pizzas which ensured there was plenty to eat for everyone. The November gathering of Business & Beer will be held Thursday November 12 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Strand Brewing Company’s new location, 2201 Dominguez Street in Torrance. If you have not yet visited this new location, prepare to be amazed; it is huge in comparison to just about any other tasting room in the South Bay. You will be impressed. For those interested in food, the Barley Hops Grill food truck will be there. They have some pretty good food, you might want to give them a try. Continue reading
The September 2015 Business & Beer which was held at Smog City Brewing Company on Thursday evening, September 10. If you recall, we were in the midst of a pretty bad heat wave with even worse humidity, so all things considered, including parents attending Back-to-School nights, we had a pretty decent turnout. Those that did attend were able to network while enjoying a couple new Smog City Brewing brews including Cuddlebug and California Love.
Our next gathering of Business & Beer will be held October 8, 2015 at El Segundo Brewing Company from 6:00-8:00 PM. This is Business & Beer’s first return to El Segundo Brewing Company since they expanded their tasting room, so if you have not been there lately prepare to be surprised. It is probably three or four times bigger than the last time we were there; with plenty of seating. El Segundo Brewing has some new beers you will want to try including their Power Plant Triple IPA.
