Business & Beer Event Photos
Last week Business & Beer returned to El Segundo’s source for the finest, freshest ales in the city, El Segundo Brewing Company (ESBC). Since most of our attendees live or work in the Torrance/Redondo Beach area, El Segundo is the northernmost microbrewery that we currently visit. Even though we had to compete with travel, graduations, illness and the LA Kings game, we had a pretty decent turnout. One consistent thing about our visits to ESBC is that we inevitably are approached by other visitors that want to learn more about what we are all about; this held true last week as well. As usual, El Segundo Brewing provided discounts to Business & Beer attendees, so if you need an excuse to join us there, now you have one. Thank you to Travis and Brett for the great service.
This week we will be returning to 1321 Downtown Taproom Bistro, a gastropub located in downtown Torrance. There is plenty of free parking on the streets and the parking structure on the other side of Sartori. If you have not visited the 1321 Taproom lately, they have changed a lot, from their food menu to their craft beer offerings. They have changed a lot over the past year or two; bring your business cards and make it a tax write-off. We start at 6:00 PM and they are located at 1321 Sartori in Torrance; we hope to see you there. Continue reading
Last night Business & Beer was scheduled to meet at The Rockefeller, a gastropub in Hermosa Beach. This was our fifth time going there and the last time we had more than 10 attendees; last night is was just the two of us. We learned a couple of hours ahead of time that there was a good chance the attendance would be low due to things coming up; we just did not realize how low it would be. Anyway, this is the reason we are changing our format to once a month beginning in July. It is difficult to commit to something on a weekly basis; that is one reason I avoid certain networking groups.
We will not let last night stop us, we have locations scheduled through June and they are all quality businesses. Next week, June 6, we will return to El Segundo Brewing Company, a microbrewery that puts out some of the best ales in Southern California. If you enjoy hops, you are going to love El Segundo Brewing. Parking in El Segundo is free and there is a public parking lot on the northwest corner of Main & Franklin. As they are a microbrewery they do not serve food but you are welcome to bring some in. We hope to see you there.
If you know anyone that would benefit from networking with other business owners and enjoy craft beer, please feel free to tell them about us. If you have not signed up to our mailing list yet, be sure to do so and you will always know what is coming up. No worries, we will not spam you. If email is not your thing, you can always Like Us on Facebook to stay informed. Continue reading

Last week, Business & Beer returned to The Brewery at Abigaile in Hermosa Beach. The Brewery at Abigaile is the only brewpub in the Business & Beer rotation and it happens to be a personal favorite of mine, so I always look forward to these gatherings. As luck would have it another of my favorite local breweries, Beachwood Brewing & BBQ from Long Beach, was doing a food pairing with Abigaile; so we were fortunate enough to have two great breweries under one roof. We are lucky to have two brewers of this level so close in proximity and willing to work together.
Our turnout had fewer than expected, however we did have two new people join us that came as a result of our association with Meetup. Unfortunately, there is no way that we can utilize Meetup to get more members, so we have to rely on people finding us. As a result, we are going to let it do whatever abandoned Meetup groups do (we cannot delete it); if we get an influx of new members we might revive it.
This week, Business & Beer will be returning to Alpine Inn at the Alpine Village in Torrance. While the Alpine Inn is a German gastropub, they have some very nice and hard to find American craft beers in their cellar, so you never know what to expect. They have good German dinners as well as happy hour snacks, so come on down and meet us at 6:00 PM. We usually have a pretty large group there, so bring lots of business cards.
