Last Thursday, November 8, Business & Beer returned to Monkish Brewing Company; a microbrewery in Torrance that specializes in Belgian style ales. This was our third visit to Monkish and we had a little under 15 attendees this time, but the weather had been wet and it was kind of chilly so all things considered, it was a pretty nice turnout. We had at least one first timer and we are definitely forming a group of regulars. I know a few of the regulars are doing business as a direct result of Business & Beer, so if you only came a couple times and did not really get a chance to network, give us a chance. These things rarely show results overnight, but I have been going to industry trade shows regularly since 2003 and I can assure you that the real business gets done after the show, over a drink. You develop relationships and when the need arises, you have a great chance of being the first person called.

This Thursday, November 15, Business & Beer will be returning to Hermosa Beach and The Brewery at Abigaile; in my opinion, the best brewpub in the South Bay. We always have a large number of people show up when we have come to Abigaile, so if you have not tried Abigaile or Business & Beer this will be a great experience for you. We were there last week and I noticed that brewmaster Brian Brewer had some new brews coming, so those of us that enjoy The Brewery’s brews should really enjoy this. Those that have eaten at Abigaile can attest to the tasty treats that come out of Chef Tin’s kitchen. This will be our last meeting until after Thanksgiving, so come on down and join the crowd; be sure to bring your business cards.

Business & Beer Attendees

Business & Beer at Monkish Brewing, Torrance

I mentioned above that our regular attendees are seeing benefits in the way of additional business and that the more often you attend, the more likely you are to be remembered. We are now offering another way you can be remembered, and that that is by buying a small ad spot on BusinessNBeer.com. Not only does this provide other Business & Beer attendees to find you, but it is a nice incoming link to your website. We will even help you pick the right keywords to use for your anchor text. If you are not sure what that means, feel free to talk to me about it at your next Business & Beer.

Don’t forget to sign up to our mailing list and Like Business & Beer on Facebook so you know about all of our upcoming events. You can find all the photos of Business & Beer at Monkish Brewing on GotBaddog.com.

Last Thursday, November 1, Business & Beer made our third visit to Strand Brewing Company in Torrance. Sometimes I wonder if I am just repeating the same thing every week when I review our last get together; it is always new people, return visitors, we are growing, yada yada. Well, this week I am going to say that last week we had a fantastic gathering. Not only did we have a couple of new people and several returnees that had not been able to attend recently, but we had one of our largest groups ever. We had about 20 people show up, and considering that Strand Brewing Co does not serve food, that is really saying something. In fact, our group was so large that owners of other locations have commented to me that they heard about how much Business & Beer is growing. It is really good to see and I thank everyone that has come out and made Business & Beer the success it is becoming; we do appreciate it.

Business & Beer Week 17

Nice group for Business & Beer at Strand Brewing Co.

Next Thursday, November 8 we will be returning to Monkish Brewing, also in Torrance. Monkish Brewing is a microbrewery that specializes in Belgian style ales. I have had several people tell me that they have not tried Monkish yet, but have always wanted to, so I am expecting a pretty good group. I know we have some hop heads in the group that are not real fans of Belgian style ales, but I am here to tell you that brewmaster Henry has come up with a new dry-hopped Belgian amber, made with Sterling hops called False Prophet. Regular attendees know I am a major hop head and when I first raised my glass of False Prophet to my lips the aroma immediately put a smile to my face. I know I will never find an IPA at Monkish Brewing, but the False Prophet is right up there. Come on down Thursday and try it for yourself, I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Please join us for Business & Beer a small business networking event which will be held at Tortilla Cantina. on November 29, 2012 at 6 PM. Tortilla Cantina is located at 1225 El Prado Ave, Old Torrance, California. Please RSVP by commenting below that you will be there.

Business & Beer met at Tortilla Cantina in Old Torrance last week, which was our twelfth meeting and our first visit to Tortilla Cantina. Tortilla Cantina is a “taco bistro” that offers 18 varieties of tacos and has about 35 different beers on tap. As will happen when dealing with rotating taps and micro breweries that frequently provide half kegs, sometimes taps run out; and apparently there were a couple instances of that happening Thursday. Luckily, when there are 35 taps available, you can run out of a few and still have plenty to choose from.

We had another very nice turnout, with about 20 people showing up, including three first time attendees and a couple returning for the second time. Someone asked me what types of businesses are being represented at these gatherings and so far they have included real estate agents, insurance agents, IT people, an engraver, a couple inventors, Internet marketers, mobile app developers, window washers, lawyers, financial planners and more. We have a pretty wide spectrum of businesses attending, so if networking is an important part of your business success, you might want to look into joining us one Thursday to check it out.

This Thursday we will be returning to The Rockefeller in Hermosa Beach. The Rockefeller is a gastropub which means they serve food and other people’s beer. In fact, they have about 25 different beers on tap and they sell flights that you can create yourself, or ask your server to make one for you. This will be our second visit to The Rockefeller and if you have never been, you will want to join us; they have very good food and there are several specials going on Thursdays, so come down and enjoy.

I would like to remind everyone that our full schedule of upcoming events is always posted on the front page of BusinessNBeer.com and we have a Facebook page to help you keep in touch. You can also sign up for our mailing list on the front page here which will notify you whenever a new post is made on this site. Also, please feel free to bring your significant other to our events. Part of the reason we promote this is that we understand the importance of family and think it is probably a little easier to get out of the house for a beer if you bring them along. So, build your business and your relationship at Business & Beer. You can see all the photos from Business & Beer at Taco Cantina on GotBaddog.com.
