We had our eighth Business & Beer last Thursday at Sophie’s Place in the Riviera Village in Redondo Beach. Sophie’s Place is one of, if not the best gastropub in Redondo Beach. We went there for the first time in July but feel like we have been coming for years because of how welcomed we always feel. They have a nice menu and eight rotating taps that always keeps the beer selection interesting.
We had another nice group of close to 15 people, with one or two couples attending and we had at least one newcomer from Keeping it Local. I am pretty sure we will see him back as supporting local business is what we are all about. As I looked around the room Thursday and through the photos this morning I was pleased to notice that everyone seems to be enjoying the conversation; whether it be about business, beer or just being social.
Next week, Business & Beer will return to Monkish Brewing in Torrance. So far, Monkish Brewing holds the record for the largest Business & Beer event we have had yet. They do not serve food, so that is really saying something. If you want to bring food in, you are welcome to. For the first timers, Monkish is located in an industrial park on Western, just south of Del Amo. You can only enter from the southbound lanes, and it is the second driveway, right after the hamburger joint. Just turn in and head towards the back, you can not miss us. We will be in the back by the brewing equipment.
We thank everyone for their support thus far and hope that you will Like our Facebook page and sign up for our mailing list so you can keep aware of our schedule. If you know of any gastropubs in the South Bay that we should consider, please visit our Add Your Location page. You can find all the photos from Thursday’s event at Sophie’s Place on GotBaddog.com.
Please join us for Business & Beer a small business networking event which will be held at Tortilla Cantina. on September 27, 2012 at 6 PM. Tortilla Cantina is located at 1225 El Prado Ave, Old Torrance, California. Please RSVP by commenting below that you will be there.
Week five, August 9, found the Business N Beer crowd at The Rockefeller, in Hermosa Beach. The Rockefeller is a very nice gastropub with about 25 beers of tap, and I know several attendees enjoyed being able to try something new. Unless you are very prolific in the craft beer scene, most likely The Rockefeller has something you have yet to try. In addition to their fine tap selection, they offer a wide variety of food; I noticed quite a few people experimenting with the various offerings.
Once again, we had close to 20 people show up. As with the last couple of gatherings, we are finding a mixture of people from every previous event and at least a few first timers. Most everyone I spoke to has been very enthusiastic about Business N Beer and everyone has found some benefit from coming. Whether it was making a deal, meeting someone that provides a service they need or just the ability to get a little more exposure; there seems to be something for everyone. It is nice to see that people are bringing their friends. Regular attendee, Phil Walls, brought a friend that is a small business owner, and he was lucky enough that he won the door prize of a free craft beer at an upcoming event, so congrats to Bud on his win.
Speaking of upcoming events, our next Business N Beer will be held August 16 at 6:00 PM at El Segundo Brewing Company, located at 140 Main Street, in El Segundo. They are located on the southeast corner of Main and Franklin, across the street from Rock N Brews. If you can not find street parking, there is a large public FREE PARKING lot a block west of Main Street on Franklin. A very short block. El Segundo Brewing is a micro brewery, which means they do not serve food, but you can bring it in. You know we will have something to munch on. Be sure to sign up on our mailing list and Like us on Facebook so you can keep current with the Business N Beer schedule. You can find all the photos from Business N Beer at The Rockefeller on GotBaddog.com.
