Redondo Beach

Business & Beer returned to Sophie’s Place last week. Sophie’s Place is a gastropub in the Riviera Village section of Redondo Beach with eight rotating taps and about 50 different craft beers available in bottles and cans. They have a very nice selection of hard to find options available. They also have a great food menu with their date salad and lamb burgers being a couple favorites. We had another small turnout for whatever reason, and since the Phantom Carriage “Muis” Release Celebration was being held over at Naja’s Place, we all headed over there. Unfortunately, there was a major power outage in that part of Redondo Beach so there was no power and no beer was being poured until after power was restored. I waited around and took some photos; they had a nice group there, but had to leave before power was eventually restored.

This week, June 27 we will be returning to the home of Belgian styled ales in Torrance, Monkish Brewing Company. Monkish Brewing is located at 20311 South Western Avenue in Torrance. If this is your first visit to Monkish, it is a microbrewery that currently has about 11 different ales currently on tap. From lagers to quads, if you enjoy Belgian style ales, you will enjoy Monkish Brewing Company. As they are a microbrewery, they do not serve food but you are more than welcome to bring food or order in. Their tasting room is in an industrial park on the west side of Western, just south of Del Amo (the driveway past the hamburger stand). Thursday will mark the end of our weekly meetups and the beginning of visiting brewpubs and microbreweries only. Since we will be meeting once a month only, the second Thursday of the month, this would be a good time to get on our mailing list or Like Us on Facebook to ensure you are kept in the loop for upcoming events. Last week, Business & Beer returned to Sophie’s Place in Redondo Beach, and this time we brought our Meetup group with us. It was a nice turnout with almost half of the attendees coming directly as a result of our becoming involved with Meetup.com. While the group was a little smaller than anticipated, it gave the Business & Beer regulars an opportunity to interact and network with our new attendees.

This Thursday, April 17, Business & Beer will return to Monkish Brewing Company in Torrance. It has been three months since we have met at Monkish, and a lot has changed over there. As always, Henry has a few new brews available and they have been doing a lot of remodeling; so if you have not visited Monkish Brewing in a while, you are going to be pleasantly surprised. For those of you that have yet to visit Monkish, they are a microbrewery that specializes in Belgian ales. If you are one of those that do not like real hoppy beers, you will probably enjoy Monkish Brewing’s offering. I suggest buying a flight so you can decide which of their beers you prefer.

If business networking is part of your job description and you live or work in the South Bay, you should check out Business & Beer. We are the business networking group that has no rules, no dues and meets after normal work hours, so we encourage you to bring your significant other if so inclined. Every Thursday at 6:00 PM we meet at a different microbrewery, brewpub or gastropub in the South Bay area. You can sign up to our mailing list, which is on the upper right hand side of the page; or you can follow us on Meetup or Facebook. We hope you will join us; it is a good group with nice people all eager to do business and have a couple beers. All the photos from our event at Sophie’s Place can be found on GotBaddog.com.

Last Thursday we brought Business N Beer back to Sophie’s Place in Redondo Beach for another successful meetup. Sophie’s Place is a gastropub in the Riviera Village section of Redondo Beach, CA. The people at Sophie’s always make us feel welcomed and Thursday was no exception. In fact, Bobby (one of the co-owners) even invited a couple people to join our group. There were a couple other first time attendees so there was plenty of networking opportunities for those that wanted to network.

Cheers for Sophie's Place

A toast to our hosts

This Thursday, February 7, we will be returning to Tortilla Cantina in downtown Torrance. Tortilla Cantina is a gastropub with a south of the border flair; they serve Mexican food and offer 18 different kinds of tacos. In addition to good food they have a wide selection of craft beers on tap. There is always plenty of free parking and the portion of the restaurant we take over makes it conducive to networking. This will be our third visit there and everyone seems to enjoy themselves, so come on down and check them out.

We are considering opening chapters of Business & Beer in different cities, so if this is something that is of interest to you, please comment below and we will help you get started. There is no reason why this networking group needs to be confined to the South Bay. Please feel free to recommend us to your friends that include networking as a part of their marketing plan and Like Us on Facebook. You can sign up to get on our mailing list so you will always know where we are meeting next. All the photos from our visit to Sophie’s Place can be found on GotBaddog.com.
